Ideal Body Weight - What is yours?
Your ideal body weight is where you are healthiest.
This isn't meant to sound controversial or trite, but rather - most ideal body weight calculators are based on simple measurements of height.
This is NOT a good way to estimate your ideal weight!
This kind of measurement does not take into account....
However, due to modern body image obsession, and psychological disorders (EDs), many people are unable to determine an accurate body weight. In this case, the calculator can be useful for those underweight.
Those overweight should be aiming for a body fat percentage goal.
An ideal body fat percentage for men would be 10-14%, or 16-20% for women. If you know your current body fat percentage you would be able to calculate your ideal weight.
But not many of us know this! See the body fat calculator for more.
Traditional Ideal Weight Calculator
Here is a standard body weight calculator (take it with a grain of salt). Only suitable for those 4 foot and above (i.e. not children).
*To determine your frame size:
The most common situation where ideal weight readings are used - are for health insurance purposes. However weight does not provide any information about body composition.
Is this an Accurate Measure?
This calculator will estimate your ideal weight range. As with the BMI Calculator, these readings are very generalized.
As we mentioned above, this type of calculation doesn't account for individual differences. Your ideal weight is where you are the healthiest, not where you fall on some scale.
Again, for a more accurate measure, find your Body Fat Percentage.
