Subway Diet - Outline

Subway is a popular fast food brand with outlets worldwide. Their staple product is 6 or 12 inch "subs" (long rolls or sandwiches) with a large choice of fillings and their own baked breads. They have experienced increasingly popularity over the last year due to the negative publicity regarding fatty fast foods from competitors such as McDonalds and KFC.

Subway market their food touting the low-levels of fat in each sub. They are not wrong. If you are going to choose healthy fast food - then Subway is one of the best choices.

Subway Diet Plan?

The association of Subway and diet plans came about due to the fantastic weight loss success of Jared Fogle. Jared effectively lived on a diet of Subway food and achieved outstanding weight loss (he began with a weight over 400 pounds and ended at around 190 pounds). It is worth noting that this diet was combined with a lot of aerobic activity (he was known to have walked a lot).

After receiving plenty of media attention many others have followed in his footsteps and begun the "Subway diet".

Subway is a healthy choice for take-out food, and it is prepared for you (which takes a lot of the guesswork out of meal planning and low fat cooking). But, like any take-out food - it can get expensive, and the monotony of eating subs day in and day out can start to become unpleasant.

What Was The Exact Meal Plan?

We have found two variants of Jared's eating plan.

Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: A 6 inch Turkey Sub + potato chips (baked)
Dinner: A 12 inch veggie Sub


Breakfast: Small bowl of cereal with skimmed milk. Black coffee with sweetener.
Lunch: Turkey Subway Sandwich. Diet Pepsi.
Dinner: Vegetarian Subway Sandwich. Water.
Snacks: Apple, orange, water.

Note that the subs were ordered without mayo and without cheese
