LA Weight Loss Centers

LA Weight Loss are a franchised "bricks and mortar" weight loss center. LA Weight Loss differ to Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig in the fact that they don't appear to have a completely on-line based program. Their weight loss program is completely center-based.

At one time LA Weight Loss had over 650 centers, including some in the UK and Canada - but they are predominantly US-based.

Their weight loss program is based around a low calorie diet plan, and personalized one-on-one counseling. They don't have group meetings (as in Weight Watchers).

LA to Your Door Rapid Results Diet Program 15% OffUpdate: In the past couple of years many have complained that their LA center went out of business and that they weren't told it was closing which meant many lost hundreds of dollars. Visiting the official website, it looks like they are promoting their online meal replacement products and home program more so then their centers.

In fact, we couldn't find any centers even when we typed in zip codes from huge cities like LA and NYC, but instead we were redirected to LA to Your Door which is their new at home/online based program.

Is L.A. Weight Loss a good way to lose weight?

LA Weight Loss is another well-advertised, big-branded weight loss program. But this does not necessarily correlate to a good weight loss program. LA Weight Loss is EXPENSIVE - and it is difficult to determine the exact price of the program. The TV commercials claim $7 per week, but the total cost will add up to more than this. (Anywhere from $300-$500 total).

It's hard not to feel cynical when finding yet another weight loss program with its own line of diet supplements (LA Lites or Nu Lites - bars), and "weight loss enhancers" (whatever they are).

Getting the LA Weight Loss Bars

LA Lites and other supplements can be sourced via eBay at huge discounts...

You can also order their newest range of supplements and meal replacement products from their new program LA Weight Loss to Your Door.

Controversy

In 2002 Consumer's Research magazine reported that LA Weight Loss Centers ran afoul of the National Association of Attorney Generals - resulting in a $275,000 settlement.

LA Weight Loss advertised that their weight loss program was $7 per month, when the reality was - a $376 annual fee was required up front (no installments allowed). The adverts also failed to disclose that purchase of food supplements were required.

It also appears that each LA Weight Loss Center operates differently. There are a large number of complaints out there regarding LA Weight Loss centers. You have been warned!!

Recommendation

We recommend using LA Weight Loss with caution.

We honestly think there are far better weight loss programs out there - where you can get more value for money, and without feeling that you are another recruit in a fast-growing corporate enterprise. An interesting discussion about this can be found on the Diet Blog. Time will tell whether or not their corporate restructuring and new LA to Your Door will help shape up their image and bring back customers.
