Beverly Hills Diet
A diet very low in calories and based on a premise that cannot be backed up by any research. Avoid this one.

Carbohydrate Addicts
The authors claim that 75% of overweight people are addicted to carbohydrates. Is there any proof?

DASH Diet
Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. Diet produced by health authorities to assist in lowering blood pressure.

Detox Diets
Diets to rid the body of toxins and pollutants.

Eat Right 4 Your Type
A diet based on the individuals blood type. Also know as a "Blood Type Diet".

F Plan
One of the first high fiber diets to appear.

Greenlane Diet
This is a fad/crash diet from the 1970s. It is very low calorie and similar to other crash diets of the time.

Hip and Thigh Diet
Low fat diet from author Rosemary Conley.

Holford Diet
A diet based around glycemic load from British author Patrick Holford. The book currently only available in the UK.

Lindora - Lean For Life
Weight loss clinics based in Southern California. Their diet is based on the very low carb process of ketosis.

Liver Cleansing Diet
A detox diet that claims poor liver function is a major cause of obesity and other problems.

Macrobiotic Diet
A Far Eastern diet and lifestyle based on whole grains, and generally vegetarian foods.

Makers Diet
A biblically-based 40 day diet regime intended to bring about a number of health benefits including weight loss.

Mayo Clinic Diet
This diet is an urban myth and has no connection with the official Mayo Clinic.

Mediterranean Diet
The diet of Southern Mediterranean peoples, based around fruit, vegetables, fish poultry, and olive oil.

Michael Thurmond's Six Week Body Makeover
A kit sold via informercials. A fairly strict regime based on sound nutrition and exercise.

OptiFast
Very low-calorie clinical weight loss program designed for obese people only.

Ornish Diet
A very-low-fat diet by Dr Ornish. Meat, poultry, and fish are generally not encourages.

Pritikin Diet
Very low fat, high carb diet from the Pritikin Longevity Institute.

Raw Food Diet
A diet restricted to raw and uncooked food only.

Rice Diet
A medically supervised live-in program designed for rapid weight loss over a short period of time.

Scarsdale Diet
A low carb diet.

Seattle Sutton
Diet based on packaged and/or frozen food. Portion-controlled.

Sugar Busters
A diet claiming elimination of sugars is the key to weight loss. Howeverit's more likely that the low calories on this diet are the reason.

Suzanne Somers
A food-combining plan from celebriy Suzanne Somers - also called "somersizing".

Very Low Calorie Diets
VLCDs should only be used under medical supervision.

Warrior Diet
Contraversial diet based on eating very little during the day, and then overeating at night.
