100 Calorie Diet

The 100 Calorie Diet was developed by Tammy and Sussie Trimble who lost weight by dividing their daily food into 100 Calorie portions.

This method worked so well for them that they decided to write a Diet Plan for others to follow in hopes that they would also find lasting weight loss by using their 100 Calorie method.

The 100 Calorie Plan

The Trimbles believe that the reason most diets fail is due to the fact that people are restricted from eating the foods they love which results in unhealthy deprivation. This eventually causes people to "fall off the wagon" and binge on the foods they have been craving.

With the 100 Calorie Diet there are no forbidden foods and dieters can continue to eat the foods that they love, but focus on eating less of these foods by using their provided tools and resources to understand what a 100 Calorie portion of that food looks like.

Women are allowed a total of 1500 calories a day or 15, 100 Calorie portions and men are allowed 2000 Calories a day or 20, 100 Calorie portions.

Dieters are encouraged to plan out their daily meals in advance and portion things like snacks ahead of time. All foods are allowed on the 100 Calorie diet, but the authors advice against processed and prepackaged foods for health reasons.

There are a number of "free foods" that can be added and do not follow the 100 Calorie portion guidelines. These are bell pepper, broccoli, butternut squash, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, green beans, lettuce, mushrooms, snow peas, tomato, zucchini, alfalfa sprouts, balsamic vinegar, bouillon, capers, carob, cocoa, pickles, hot sauce, salsa, diet soda, soy sauce, splenda and V8 juice.

Dieters are encouraged to find an exercise that they find enjoyable and it is recommended that this or some type of aerobic activity is performed daily.
